CHILDREN'S BOOKS
Almost all parents and grandparents understand the immense significance of children's books for their (grand)children. Reading and reading aloud is extremely important for the development of language, and therefore of thinking. It is also a way to bring the world within the reach of children. They learn how the world looks, experience adventures with the main characters and learn about emotions and how things go or can go. Did you know that it is useful to introduce books already in the baby's life? Learning and appreciating really starts from the very first year of life.
And then we haven't even talked about the pleasure that children and (grand)parents can experience from the moment of reading aloud or looking at pictures together and talking about them. In many families it is an important ritual before going to sleep, or another special moment, where there is undivided attention for the story, the experience and so for the child. It is of course not without reason that many adults of today have fond memories of reading or reading aloud moments.
Super selection
Of course, there are (children's) libraries and shops full of children's books. Good and responsible books that are also beautifully designed and less good books. At Mrs. Aardbei we have made a selection from a few dozen children's books that have distinguished themselves and of which people who know about them say that they are really special books. This can be in the story or in the special illustrations, but usually in both. There is a variety of books; this applies to the themes they cover or the age group they serve. Animals play an important role in many books. There are books with rhyming text or with little or even no text at all (the Paraplu; De gele Ballon). It all comes down to your storytelling skills as a reader or your open-mindedness to go on an investigation with your (grand)child yourself and to look at the pictures and talk about them together.
We can make a rough division into age groups.
Baby books and booklets for children under 4 years old
As mentioned before, you can't start early enough with -the love for- books. For the littlest ones, we have touch and experience books. Brands that have already earned their stripes with beautiful and responsible cuddly toys also have a book for the littlest ones in their collection. Liewood has crackle and touch books and Done by Deer also comes with the Activitybook Elphee.
We have two beautiful, soft baby books from Wee Gallery: friendly faces and friendly faces wild. The books 'Color me water' are special; plastic (bath) books where your child can color the drawings with water. We have them in a few versions.
The book Guess How Much I Love You? is suitable for children aged 1.5 years and up.
We have the books Jip and Takkie by Annie MG Schmidt for children from 2-3 years old. All mentioned books are of course also very suitable as a maternity gift.
From 7-8 years
For slightly older children we have the following very educational viewing and reading books: Atlas, Atlas Special, The Animal Book and Dinosaurs. A must-have for children who are very interested in the world, traveling, special animals, other environments and of course Dinosaurs.
From 4 years old with different themes
We have the evergreens Jip and Janneke and Puk van de Petteflet by Annie MG Schmidt. But also a selection of other beautiful books for children from 4 years to about 8 years.
There is too much to mention and we would like to refer you to the extensive description that accompanies each book. This description makes it possible to make a good choice; a choice that matches your preferences or those of your (grand)child. What is more beautiful than receiving or giving a book? As a maternity gift or for a birthday or other special moment? Children's books are gifts that stay with you.
