Kylee is a very passionate young teacher, who always felt that children could not represent themselves accurately when it came to artistic expression. As a society, we've worked so hard to get resources that are more representative of people around the world, but we're lagging behind when it comes to the tools we use for our kids in the classroom.

Drawing is a big part of children's development and creative expression, but children were limited in how they could express who they are! We're more than just 'peach' or 'brown' - the limited colors available in every standard box of crayons or markers.

After an incredible amount of research, they came across some items that were available abroad that they couldn't get in South Africa, which is an overwhelming shock when you consider the abundance of beautiful diversity in our country. Nevertheless, these options were expensive, not kid-friendly, and they all sounded like house paint samples.

So after one-too-many complaints from Kylee, her husband said, LET'S DO THIS!!! From wanting to make a difference in HER classroom, to wanting to make a difference in classrooms in South Africa. More than a YEAR later, they've started a business of crayons, pencils, and other craft items for the skin you're in, proudly named Color Me Kids.

So they are more than just a company - they are a husband and wife team, passionate about encouraging children to celebrate the color of THEIR skin!

Color Me Kids

We have a very nice set of Color Me Kids crayons with 12 different skin tones. Due to the triangular shape and the optimal size, the crayons lie comfortably in the small children's hands and have a good grip.
