When Waldemar Andrén founded Boråstapeter in 1905, it was with the clear vision that every Swede should be able to afford to create a more beautiful home with wallpaper. Since wallpaper is now loved not only in Sweden, but also in other parts of the world, the vision has changed to “Inspired by our Swedish heritage, we create wallpaper for every home.”
The wallpaper embraces style and quality. The brand has its own design team in Borås, complemented by an exclusive collaboration with iconic designer archives such as Arne Jacobsen and Alvar Aalto. Boråstapeter has received the Elle Decoration Swedish Design Awards in both 2017 and 2018, and the brand magazine “Wallpaper Magazine” was awarded the Swedish Design Award in the category Editorial – Magazine – Print in 2020.

About the wallpaper
Boråstapeter wallpaper is made of paper or non-woven fleece wallpaper. The paper is processed as environmentally friendly as possible and is free of chlorine and PVC. The wallpaper is often surface treated for durability, making it more resistant to stains and easier to clean. This can also be to give a desired surface finish or appearance. The surface layer consists mainly of acrylic resin and matt glaze.
Boråstapeter paints and dyes are completely water-based and free of PVC, environmentally harmful and allergenic substances and heavy metals. This applies to all their printing techniques; both old and new techniques. Leftover ink is not thrown away, but reused for new colours.
Because Boråstapeter’s materials and processes are harmless to the environment, no advanced chemical purification plants with flue gas filters are needed in the production process. They compensate for the small emissions they do have and only use renewable energy in the factory.
In order to take even more care of the environment and surroundings, Boråstapeter has its own water treatment plant. Here, all dye and colouring residues are separated from the process sewer, so that only controlled and clear water is fed into the municipal sewer for final purification.
Boråstapeter uses only fsc-certified material from sustainable forestry with traceable origins. This means that every tree lost in production is replaced by a newly planted tree. In addition, Boråstapeter wallpapers are ce-marked, which guarantees, among other things, that the requirements for the environment, safety and health are met.
